01The problem
Home cooks in India selling snacks and pickles usually take orders over WhatsApp chats and track stock, payments and profit in their heads or a notebook. Off-the-shelf eCommerce tools are too complex and costly for them. The goal was a shop a family helper can set up once, and that Mom can run daily with big buttons, her own language and one tap per order.
02Who it is for
Home food businesses in India (snacks, pickles, sweets) run by non-technical owners, plus their customers ordering from a WhatsApp link.

06How I built it with AI
The agreed requirements spec (v1.0, 31 Oct 2026) was written around a real situation: a home cook (‘Mom’, mid-50s, low tech skill) and a family helper. The spec fixed the hard constraints up front — large text (min 18pt), max 4 bottom tabs, UPI with UTR entry, FSSAI number on the store, demo mode when backend keys are missing — and an AI coding tool built the Expo app, the Supabase migration with row-level security, and a two-part setup and user guide (Part A for the helper, Part B for Mom). Alongside it sits a companion guide, ‘Start Selling Your Home-Made Food Online’, walks home businesses through FSSAI registration, UPI, WhatsApp Business, packaging, records and tax basics (rules checked October 2026).
07Design highlights
Designed for a low-tech owner: 18pt+ text, big buttons with icons and words, only four tabs
One codebase, two faces: owner app on Android, customer store on the web
UPI-first payments with no gateway fees; the UTR reference shows on the owner's order card for verification
Colour-blocked product tiles with emoji fallbacks so the store looks complete before real photos exist
Server-side re-pricing in place_order() so the public store can't tamper with totals
